3 Cups is a fresh and modern coffee shop. It has 2 locations. Their downtown location is located in the Woodbine Food Hall. Their original location is located in Holladay, a little southeast of downtown. Both locations offer stellar coffee and a relaxed vibe.
This coffee house also offers sandwiches, acai bowls, gelato, and even wine and cheese in the evenings. They even have live music on Friday nights, if you want to hang out with a glass of wine.
I love their Holladay location to hang out and work for the day. Their toasts (smorrebrod) are fantastic to try if you’re wanting a snack as well, while working.
Roots Coffee Utah

Roots Coffee Utah, is your go-to for a tasty unique coffee. As the winner of Best of SCL Coffee Shop 2022, you don’t want to miss this place. They offer a collection of flavors from around the world and their own unique twist, with seasonally inspired coffee beverages.
With a sleek modern interior, it is a great ambiance to find a room and get some work done, or even have a business meeting. You can tell from walking in, that the place was designed with the customer in mind.
They also have a really cool back story for how they got started in Cartagena, Colombia. Definitely worth a quick read on their website. You’ll probably want to go back a couple times to try their different signature drinks, like the Caramelo or the Mexican Mocha.

I saved my favorite for last. Publik Coffe Roasters is a small-batch coffee roaster in SLC. They have a couple locations. One of their cute coffee shops is located in the Avenues neighborhood and is an excellent spot for coffee and breakfast. It has a small patio with tables with tables to enjoy your breakfast outside in the summer as well.
Their other location is built out in a warehouse with and includes an event space that can be rented out. This spot has an incredibly pleasant and friendly vibe. The staff are always friendly, and the coffee was delicious!
It has a very pleasant environment. This makes it an ideal spot for studying, working or having a casual chat with friends.
Final Thoughts
As I mentioned, Salt Lake City is not a well know “coffee destination.” That said, there are a lot of fantastic baristas and coffee shops to get your caffeine fix. I even dare to say that some of the shops are comparable to those in more well-known coffee cities like Seattle and San Francisco.
There are many more coffee shops in Salt Lake City that offer a great ambiance and a good cuppa coffee. But I wanted to give you my personal list of top coffee shops in Salt Lake City.
